About Donna

An award-winning artist, Donna Janec Karambelas, moved to Sarasota in 2012.  Since moving, her inspiration is the lush beauty of the area.  A transplant from the Chicago suburbs, the sunshine, the flowers, the vibrant color and warmth of her new tropical home have made a strong impression.  Using acrylics, she paints Flora and Florida… Gorgeous florals and colorful tropical pieces.

Most recently in April 2019, her work was showcased in a solo exhibit at Selby Library, Sarasota. In September 2018 her artwork was selected to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fine Art Society of Sarasota.  In May and August 2018 she had solo exhibitions at Gulf Gate Library, Sarasota.

She received a Merit Award in Venice Art Gallery’s November 2017 Exhibition Branching Out… Trees. Donna’s work was also featured in an April 2017 article in the Palmer Ranch Newsletter, On The Ranch.

Donna has a degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois. Always an artist in her heart, she’s honed her painting skills in various classes and workshops in Chicago and Sarasota.

According to Donna, art should make your soul sing!
